The band Cóisir brings together three of the top Irish music talents in Colorado! The band consists of Jessie Burns on fiddle, Pete Strickler on tenor banjo, and Marty Smith on bouzouki and vocals. (Cóisir is pronounced much like the word ‘kosher’, and means ‘Party' in Irish)
Hailing from England, Jessie is a prominent figure in the international music scene, having played for years with the band, Gaelic Storm, and now with the Bow Tides and Cóisir! Pete Strickler is one of the founders of Portal Irish Music Week, an annual camp featuring some of the biggest names in Irish traditional music. He has two solo albums out, and regularly teaches and performs at festivals around the U.S. Marty has been playing Irish music for over 25 years, and is considered one of the best bouzouki players in the region. His songs and bouzouki playing are sought after by his large following on his YouTube channel.
The music of Cóisir is heavily centered on the traditional dance music of Ireland, intertwined with haunting songs, and original music!
